A new book on the principles and foundations of a free society was written by Eamonn Butler and produced last year by the Institute of Economic Affairs. It is called ‘Foundations of a Free Society’ Since then it has been translated into probably 8 languages, been reproduced in an African version and is about to be reproduced in a Farsi version and possibly an Indian version. It has also been promoted extensively in Africa as the subject of this year’s essay contest and nearly 600 students have now written essays based on the ideas in it.
