Winners of Ideas Lab Competition

The East Africa Policy Centre in Kenya ran an ‘Idea Lab’ competition in 2014 supported by Network for a Free Society. It was designed to interest students in the East Africa region in the social and economic problems they face and to encourage them to try and understand the causes and possible solutions. The selected area of focus was solutions for youth unemployment.

Students had to form teams and submit their ideas to the EAPC.who reviewed the submissions and made the awards on January 21st 2015.

Team Victorious Secrets from Moi University emerged winners with simple ideas about how county Governments can the promote youth employment by reducing barriers to entrepreneurial activities. The winners took home USD 1,000, USD 500 second place and third place USD 250 with a copy of African Students For Liberty, a T shirt, A CD of Ideas for a Free Society.

Mike Rotich, CEO of the East Africa Policy Centre gave the prizes.

 

 

He said ‘there is a generation that gives sound, simple solutions to our challenges. All they need is a platform to be heard! I was honored to award the winners of Eastern Africa Policy Centre Ideas Lab Projects that aimed to give students a platform to propose solutions to major; social and political issues in the Eastern Africa region. Our selected area of focus is in providing solutions for youth unemployment.
