PRIME organised Youth Workshop 2015 on ‘Private Property, Privatisation and Ownership Rights’ from 21st to 23rd August, 2015 in Nathia Gali, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It was supported by Network for a Free Society.
The workshop focused on three main sub-topics including Basic principles of private property and property rights status in Pakistan, Ownership of Natural Resources and State Ownership and Privatisation. The format was a combination of lectures and group activities. As per the response of most of the participants, the workshop met their expectation and they find topics of freedom & rule of law, ownership of natural resources, difference between private property and personal property, privatisation vs. nationalisation very useful. For many of the participants, the topics discussed were new concepts and almost every participant found this workshop a good medium to introduced and learn about this content.
PRIME released call for participation on 16th June, 2015 targeting youth leaders in the age bracket of 21-29. The criterion for selection was the demonstrated leadership ability, the involvement in extracurricular activity and any writing or publishing experience. PRIME received 120 applications from all over the Pakistan and selected 20 promising young participants after an exhaustive selection process. The participants were from Sindh – urban and rural cities, Punjab, Baluchistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They were from a diverse background including media, NGOs, entrepreneurs, academia, young leaders and students.
The workshop moderators were Mr. Ali Salman, Executive Director-PRIME, Ms. Sara Javed, Associate Director - PRIME and Dr. Raza Ullah, President –Alternate Solution Institute.
